South Pender Pop Warner is a not for profit organization that serves our local youth from ages 5—15, teaching them the fundamentals of football and cheerleading. We are one of two Pender County Pop Warner Associations. Topsail Pirates serve the youth of the coastal areas of Pender County.
This association was formed in 2008, although Pop Warner itself was founded in 1929. Pop Warner has over 400,000 participants in 42 states and several countries, which makes it one of the largest youth football and cheerleading programs in the world. It is the only youth sports program that requires it’s participants to maintain academic standards in order to participate.
Pop Warner’s philosophy has always been that sports and scholastics go hand in hand. We seek to develop well rounded young men and women who not only learn the fundamentals of football and cheerleading but also the importance of education.
In our first season we had 2 football teams and 2 cheerleading squads. Our Pee Wee Cheer squad (ages 9—12), placed first in their local competition and then placed second in their regional competition. This year we hope to go all the way to national competition at Disney World in Florida!
We are only as great as our parents who volunteer their time and efforts in letting their children participate! |
